Higher Degree Student of the Week: Introducing PhD candidate Rabia Mobeen, an Optometrist born in Dubai and educated in Pakistan. Rabia received her bachelor’s and master’s in optometry degrees from COAVS King Edward Medical University in Lahore, Punjab.
Rabia’s research focuses on the effect of youth and contact lens wear on the ocular surface immune response.
Rabia received the William C. Ezell Fellowship from the American Academy of Optometry Foundation, the only Australian-based student among the 2020 recipients and the first awardee from Pakistan to do so. She has also received the Joe and Janet Barr Early Career Cornea and Contact Lens Research Award from the American Academy of Optometry Foundation, and the Hikaru Hamano Fellowship from the International Society of Contact Lens Research.
Rabia is hugely thankful to her parents and mentors Scientia Professor Fiona Stapleton, Associate Professor Blanka Golebiowski, Dr Cecilia Chao, Professor Asad Aslam Khan and her colleague and friend Zahra Tajbakhsh for their continuous motivation and constant support.
