Dr Percy Lazon de la Jara is Principal Clinical Scientist, Research and Development Department of CooperVision where he set up strategies that influence direction of product development and management of research programs.
He was the Head of Clinical Research at the Brien Holden Vision Institute (2009-2015) where he directed clinical research activities. In 1995, became the Regional Coordinator for Latin America of the International Association of Contact Lens Educators (IACLE) where he was in charge of implementing contact lens educational programs across the region. He completed his PhD at the Cooperative Research Centre for Eye Research and Technology at University of New South Wales, Sydney Australia in 2005. He has presented more than 100 educational/scientific conferences in16 countries and is a regular reviewer for a range of journals. He has published 37 peer-reviewed scientific papers, co-inventor on three patents and admitted as a Fellow of IACLE and Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. Is a member by scientific merit of the International Society for Contact Lens Research.
In 2011 he received from the Australian Government Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research the Excellence in Innovation Award, for the work conducted on “Anti Myopia Spectacle and Contact Lens Design”.
