We welcome to the School, Dr Preeji Mandathara Sudharman who joined our team recently as a Postdoctoral Fellow. Preeji will be working in our Eye Research Group alongside Dr Jackie Tan and will be mainly involved in dry eye research.

Preeji Mandathara graduated in Optometry from the School of Medical Education, M G University, Kerala, India in 1999. Prior to taking up a position as a Consultant Optometrist at Bausch Lomb Contact Lens Centre, L V Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad in 2001, she completed a one year fellowship in clinical optometry. She has served in various roles such as clinical and research optometrist at Cornea and Contact Lens Department, teaching faculty for Optometry Fellows and undergraduate optometry students at the institute. Whilst working at L V Prasad Eye Institute, she also completed Masters in Optometry (research) from School of Optometry and Vision Science, University of New South Wales, Sydney Australia as a part time student. Her PhD thesis was titled “Corneal nerves, sensitivity and tear neuropeptides in keratoconus” under the supervision of Professors Mark Willcox and Fiona Stapleton. She was awarded Ezell Fellowship in 2016 from the American Optometric Foundation (supported by Vision Impact Institute) and the research award from Cornea and Contact Lens Association of Australia (CCLSA) in 2016 and 2017.
