Higher Degree Research Student of the Week: Meet Zahra Tajbakhsh, a clinical optometrist and leading researcher. Her works focus on ocular diseases. For her PhD research project, she is aiming to characterise ocular surface immune cells and their connection with corneal nerves in different types of ocular allergies.
The understanding of the ocular neuroimmunology is crucial as ocular allergies are among the fifth most common chronic diseases in industrialised countries. Zahra is proud to be an IMNIS mentee of Med Tech-Pharma Program NSW and is one of the inaugural PhD champions of UNSW Women in Maths and Science.
