Simin Masoudi is a Senior Research Fellow at the School of Optometry and Vision Science. Her PhD degree was conferred in 2015 from the University of New South Wales (UNSW). Her current post-doctoral research specializes in tear biochemistry and implementation of contemporary analytical methods for the study of lipids in tears and depositions forming on contact lenses with implications in identification of lipids in human tears (lipidomics), their effect on contact lens-induced discomfort and de-stabilisation of tears in dry eye disease.
Simin’s current line of research is aligned with her previous work in the field of tear proteomics and development of a novel mass-spectrometry analytical method which allowed for simultaneous ex-vivo quantification of multiple tear proteins in minute sample volumes. Application of the method was confirmed in characterization of tear proteomic changes in contact lens discomfort.
- PhD in The Tear Biochemistry, School of Optometry and Vision Science, University of NSW, Australia
- Bachelor Science Honours Degree in Chemistry, Beheshti University, Iran
